MIMITENS

 

There are so many little things that you really don't pay attention to when you're shopping for your first baby. Just last night I was standing and looking at the baby swing thinking, "ugh...here's to another 6 months of buying batteries" because the swing we have doesn't plug in. It's a wonderful swing and I have no complaints {aside from no cord} but if I could go back and add a different one to the old registry, I would pick one that comes with a cord!! It's these sort of things that you learn as you go!

So thanks to the creator of mimiTENS, Anna-Maria Mountfort {who is a mom of two by the way}, the search to find the perfect mitts for my toddler and new baby is over. Mark my words, I'll never buy a pair of mitts that aren't mimiTENS ever again! mimiTENS are one of the best pieces of baby/toddler gear I have come across since becoming a mommie. What I love about mimiTENS is that they're a Canadian product {Canadian factories are known for creating superb winter gear...wonder why?!? haha} and they're made with eco-friendly materials like bamboo fleece and organic cotton that are safe for your children and gentle on mama nature.

How do they work? mimiTENS are mitts with long stretchy cuffs that go all the way up past the elbows. There are no strings, no velcro closures to keep them on...just a smart design that amazes my husband and I everytime we go for a walk with Aidan and don't have to put his mitts back on 5 times over. We have gone through pairs and pairs and pairs of mittens over the past two years that I have a collection of single mitts that I hang onto just in case a straggler happens to pop up somewhere. But more likely than not, the matching mitt was probably lost going from the car to the store or during a walk around the neighborhood. I'm so happy that I've been able to scrap the lonely single mitts and not look back! Aside from staying put, mimiTENS are also warm since they're lined with thinsulate. They're very lightweight mitts but don't be fooled! My little guys hands are always toasty warm after an hour long walk in -15 degree weather!

The mimiTENS  collection is suitable for babies up to 18 months and also has toddlers and kids covered with sizes 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5. They've recently released a new line called "Soft"  for babies. The mittens and cuffs are made with lush bamboo that's gentle on delicate skin. The all weather mimiTENS are waterrepellent nylon, insulated with thinsulate and lined with Oeko-Tek bamboo fleece for extra warmth and softness. Cotton and lycra cuffs keep mitts up those wriggly arms. No more cold and snowy wrists!
